Art of Choice

When it comes to art and the word “blog,” the line begins to blur. Often times the idea of opinion in art revolves around the concept of curating, because what is considered “inspiring” and blessed through personal opinion as “good,” is what’s brought to the table. With that said, there are a many art curating “blogs” and websites out there; mainly overwhelming-pictorial galleries of creators from all over the world, which is constantly being updated with the next featured 15 minutes of fame. Personally I find these sites to lack depth and the ability to open a discussion about art, not only with the artist, but also stimulating content for those who are passionate about it.  While there are major art publications who reach this level of well-rounded content of the art world, I recently discovered an influential business, whose website marries together well-versed content with captivating imagery and unique curation of contemporary art. Without further ado, the “editorial-driven art advisory,” Art of Choice.

The websites crisp layout creates for usability; with its clear navigation through their topics ranging from interviews, reviews, editors choices and even articles focusing on collectors themselves. The articles are hardy in content and length, which allots for in-depth detail that exemplifies on their motto, a “no bull shit approach to art talk.” To top it all off, the viewer is blessed with a professional level of photography that captures the true essence of the featured art pieces. Above all the characteristic about this company that appeals to me the most is that they are an art advisory, meaning they provide advice and guidance for clients and artists in art business, a crucial step in the industry that makes a clear distinction of a professional level of art.

A strength with this company is exampled in their interview conversation where they open up opportunity, asking the interviewee an artists they would recommend to interview next. This is a conversation piece that propels that communication circle forward and in a new direction. Their openness for conversation and connecting with new platforms is a strength that individualizes this company and makes them stand out in a humbling way. As an individual just beginning to take those first babies steps into the professional art world, I find this company to be inspiring and an example of what I strive for as a profession.
